About us
EMARAN’s work embraces the voluntary, community and statutory sectors. We make connections and create partnerships with other sectors relevant to rural culture including rural regeneration, tourism and economic development.
EMARAN events
We hold at least one regional conference each year, in rural (including market towns) cultural venues across the East Midlands. Conferences so far have taken place in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. Our autumn conferences are aimed at artists and cultural sector. We plan to hold networking and career development events throughout the year.
Campaigns
EMARAN is an active member of the East Midlands Rural Affairs Forum developing the Active Communities aims of the Rural Action Plan 2007-2013. We communicate issues affecting arts, artists and arts organisations in rural areas and input into rural policy making. Do you have any issues about rural arts? Please contact us
Our membership
EMARAN members across the region comprise of practitioners, artists, community and voluntary organisations, arts organisations, statutory bodies and local authorities. Members have facilitated the delivery of culture-based presentations for East Midlands Rural Affairs Forum (EMRAF) events providing information on the impact of culture to reach the regeneration, economic and development sectors. EMARAN and Commissions
EMARAN engages with rural artists and is commissioning new work. In 2008, we commssioned artist and NESTA Fellow Jo Fairfax to producing a piece of artwork reflecting the ethos of EMARAN and some of the themes of the Spring Event in Harborough. Check out the artwork here (link to art to come).
